Review of The Stone Demon (The Iron Witch #3) by Karen Mahoney
Description
After being tricked into opening the doorway to the Demon Realm by Aliette, the Wood Queen, Donna Underwood is faced with a terrible ultimatum from the newly released demon hordes. They demand that the alchemists deliver the Philosopher's Stone, or their reaper storm will plunge the world into a devastating modern-day Dark Age.
Donna is sent to London, England, where she must complete her alchemist's training and learn how to recreate the Stone. But time is running out. Between facing the vengeful demon king, Demian, and collecting the Stone's elements, Donna realizes she must give her own life in order to succeed. And this time, even braving death may not be enough to save the world.
My Thoughts
I got the privilege to be able to grab a copy of this book from netgalley as long as I review it after I have read it. I have been waiting for this one.. since.. errm.. I read the last one maybe.. haha. The title is awesome, I mean when something says "Demon" in the title you just have to read it..or attempt to read it. The description is amazing the bit which made me say "I really need to read this as quick as I can to get to the end" was "And this time, even braving death may not be enough to save the world". This line just makes me so intrigued into reading this. The last thing which made me so happy about reading this book was the cover of the book, its stunning and pretty and amazing, and everything you can say which is positive. Overall I'm so hyped about reading this book.
I really enjoyed this book for many reasons.. first being the storyline which is continued from the 2nd book. Secondly the pace and the writing in the book was really good and even though the book wasn't the longest out there it was certainly enough to fit everything the author needed for the final installment of this trilogy.Thirdly the characters are flawed so I'm so happy about that because if the characters were perfect then it would be boring. Throughout the whole trilogy the main character Donna has made mistakes and in this one its about correcting them and sorting them out in the best way possible. The last.. or.. what i can remember the ending which I am not going to spoil but I'm going to say this "Not the usual ending" for me.
More characters get introduced in this book and you also see ones we knew about from the other books.
I would say that this book was amazing and I loved it to bits.
I recommend this book to everyone who has read the first two book and who love a good short amazing book.

Review of Tales of Aradia: The Last Witch (Tales of Aradia: The Last Witch #1) by L.A. Jones
Description
The Salem Witch Trials were as we all know a horrific turning point in history. It showed people how far their paranoia could lead them to; murder, persecution, and betrayal. Unknown to the humans, however, there were actually real witches located not just in Salem but all over the world including other magical beings like fairies, vampire, werewolves etc. However, once the events of the Salem Witch trials came to be the other races began to fear exposure to the humans and without so much as a second thought all the witches of the world were hunted down and killed. There was not one witch whom survived the genocide or at least that's what all the vampires, werewolves, and other races thought. But one day a girl named Aradia moves to Salem, MA and all that changes.
My Thoughts
I got contacted by the author of this book, L.A.Jones herself for me to read and review this book. I never agree to read and review a book that doesn't sound good, so any I do accept to read needs to sound like a book I would love. The cover is very interesting and that helped with me agreeing to read and review this book. The title which included the work "Witch" always helps me out as I love stories which includes magic etc. The description was the last thing which won me over to reading it, I mean who doesn't want to read a book were the description makes you want to read the book right at that instance.
I really liked this book, for so many reasons which I will explain now. First reason why I liked this book was it has a great unique storyline, though uses Witches, Vampires and Werewolves, but the fact is she doesn't over use them and its not the same old story where a vampire falls head over heels for the main character which I really loved about this. Second reason why i liked this book was the way it flowed and how I could read it so easily without thinking, "what does that mean", "I'm confused" or "When did that happen". I knew everything that happened and how things were happening so I was never lost of and I didn't have to go back to read anything I may of forgot about. The last reason why I loved this book so much was the way she portrayed the characters in this book and how they are all never perfect and that they all have flaws and issues.
I have to honest in this review and say the beginning it felt like it wasn't as good as when it got the middle onwards but it still was good so that to me was 1 of the only errors I found in this book other than... "WHY DID IT END SO SOON!!!??".
The characters as I said above was portrayed in such a great way, and I loved each character in different ways, even the bad guys. I mean everyone loves a bad guy in a story.
Aradia the main character knows she's different and maybe special in a way, but its only caused her bother in the past so she will start a new life in a new place and hopefully she can be just like any other normal teen. Well that doesn't go to plan... not really.
I love Aradia so much, its un real. She is a strong character and she doesn't deserve what happens to her and the pain she has gone through in her past. I really admire her as she tries her best to fit in and make friends.
Overall in my opinion I really liked this book and I can't wait for the 2nd book to be released which I know is very soon.
Thank you L.A. Jones for asking me to read and review because it was a really good book to read.
I would recommend this book if you want to try something different to the normal Witchy, Vampire books you have read in the past.

Q: Do you mind books with similar ideas to other books? Similar concepts, backgrounds, retellings or pulled-to-publish fanfic?
A: It depends, if someone "steals" the idea of someone without maybe saying they have.. or something as I feel it is wrong and I don't like it.
If it has similar concepts than I don't mind as long as I don't read them 1 after each other.
Retellings of fairytales are such a good idea, because they are changing something to become what they want, so they will be using there own imagination by doing that.
So what about all of you?

Review of Creep by Jennifer Hillier
Description
If he can’t have her . . .
Dr. Sheila Tao is a professor of psychology. An expert in human behaviour. And when she began an affair with sexy, charming graduate student Ethan Wolfe, she knew she was playing with fire. Consumed by lust when they were together, riddled with guilt when they weren't she knows the three-month fling with her teaching assistant has to end. After all, she’s finally engaged to a kind and loving investment banker who adores her, and she’s taking control of her life. But when she attempts to end the affair, Ethan Wolfe won’t let her walk away.
. . . no one else can.
Ethan has plans for Sheila, plans that involve posting a sex video that would surely get her fired and destroy her prestigious career. Plans to make her pay for rejecting him. And as she attempts to counter his every threatening move without her colleagues or her fiancée discovering her most intimate secrets, a shattering crime rocks Puget Sound State University: a female student, a star athlete, is found stabbed to death. Someone is raising the stakes of violence, sex, and blackmail . . . and before she knows it, Sheila is caught in a terrifying cat-and-mouse game with the lover she couldn’t resist—who is now the monster who won’t let her go.
My Thoughts
Don't normally go for Mystery/Thriller books but... THIS was a kind of thing where you get drawn to a book, read the blurb and you just have to buy it, but then you realise you don't have the money so you get your boyfriend too :D So thanks to him I have this. The blurb sounds so.. wow.. in a way like.. I have a feeling I will either love it, or hate it not like in between. The title "Creep", well come on, if your not drawn to the book by that, then look at the cover.. HANDCUFFS.. I mean.. who doesn't get drawn to a book with handcuffs on...unless its for.. something entirely different to what it actually errm means. *cough cough*. Overall my pre-thoughts of this book is very good and I can't wait to read it.
WOOP! I am so glad I bought this book, it was amazing, and I'm the happiest girl ever that my boyfriend bought me this as without him I wouldn't of read this captivating amazing book. The storyline is the most un-real but real storyline ever which just makes you wanted more with every page you turn and I was practically of my seat half the time I was reading it. This book is very easy to read and understand and just.. its amazing. The POV is centred around Dr. Sheila Tao and Her fiancée and sometimes with a private detective of some sort.
Dr. Sheila is the main character in this book, and I really like her strength and but then I hate the fact she started cheating on her partner. I like her personality and she doesn't deserve anything that happens to her in this book. Her partner is a really great and fantastic bloke, because throughout this no matter what got flung his way he tried to deal with it the correct and right way.. well not always the right way but the way he knew was right for him to complete what he wanted to complete. The characters in this book are very well portrayed and I really enjoyed them all.
My overall opinion of this book is, it was blooming fantastic and I am so glad that my mind wanted me to get the book.
I would recommend this book to all thriller lovers or if you try any book out.

Q: What is a deal breaker for you in a book? For example, do you abhor love triangles? Or can’t deal with bad editing?
A: I rarely stop reading a book once I start.. but.. Love triangles do sometimes make me groan in despair once I read 3 books in a row with a love triangle and I was piratically shouting "NOO!".
I would say if the book is really long and stuff I can only read it when I have time or I really really couldn't wait to read it.. and in the mood for a long book.
Bad editing is also one, I once had a book which the font was so tiny I just couldn't read it.
So what about all of you?

Q: What writing device or trick most irritates you when reading a book? For example, if an author employs an omnipotent narrator that is sometimes considered bad form.
A: I have to agree with one of Parajunkee's points about the love at first sight. I mean I understand in some books its meant to be like that as in.. the people were made to love each other at first look.. but some books... its just annoying and its un real that every book should have that. Overall I think I have read like 200 books or something that involves that.
Also I don't like it.. when I read a book where the POV is centred among the person and then it suddenly switches to narrative form.. I mean pick one and stick to one.
So what about all of you?

Review of A Vision of Green (Florence Vaine #2) by L.H. Cosway
Description
Since moving to Chesterport Flo has discovered new friends and a hidden world.
After spending seventeen years as an Empath, thinking she was either delusional or very, very different, she has found others who are different too. She helped battle a coven of dark witches and watched as their leader got sent to her judgement. All now seems peaceful in her new town, but it's not going to last.
For one, Flo's dad is back on the scene and has taken over her dead grandmother's house with his new girlfriend. Dealing with him makes Flo think that maybe everyday people can be monsters too, as he blackmails her into giving up the one person she needs the most. Secondly, Flo hears a story about strange goings on in the nearby forest, and becomes obsessed with the magical things that might lie in its green depths.
A Vision of Green is the second instalment in the Florence Vaine trilogy, where Flo finds herself yet again immersed in mystery, romance and things that are just a little bit scary. She will come across new adversaries, supernatural and otherwise, discover more about her own identity and grow in ways she had never anticipated.
My Thoughts
I have been looking forward to reading the second in this series, as I enjoyed the first. The author got in touch with me and we arranged a giveaway and for me to receive a free copy of this book, so I am very happy about that. The Description of the book sounds AMAZING, and very interesting. The title "A Vision OF Green" sounds very.. well lets say I really really want to read it now :D.
This book was brilliant, I loved it so much.
I don't really know where to start, well how about the fact it continues straight off from the last book, so there's no extra bits that needs to be filled with "extra" text that you don't really want, so that's a bonus. The book is filled with so much storyline and so many great characters that once you start reading you wont want to stop, well... that's how I felt. The pace of the book is easy to understand and follow and there's nothing missing out at all so you wont get confused in the middle of the story, like I have felt towards other books in the past. The POV is centred around Flo just like the last book, but of the course the stuff happening in this book is very different to the last book :).
The main characters are basically the same as the last book bar 1, but then 1 is now new to the book.
Flo as the main character once again was a very shy and sweet girl in the last book and boy oh boy has she grown up to be more confident, a lot better with her stammer, BRAVER and you know what stronger in so many ways. Through this whole book you can see that she has changed into someone who can deal with the bad stuff better than what she used to. Her abusive father is back now his mother is off the scene and he is just as bad as what he was in the past with Flo. She doesn't want anything bad to happen to her father but she certainly doesn't love him. I really feel for Flo so much in this book, at time I just wanted to jump into the book as an added character and say "Hey, I will help you", but unfortunately that can't happen. ((yet)). Throughout this book she finds more about herself and who she is and she grows even stronger.
Frank was so helpful and kind to Flo when she was new to the school, I really enjoyed him in the first book a nothing stopped me from liking him in this book. He loves and cares so deeply for Flo, and will not stop at anything to protect her, but when she tells him to let her deal with stuff on her own, he eventually allows that. If you ever found a guy like him in real life, don't ever let him go.
Flo's Father is a horrible man and I hate him with all of my heart, as soon as he arrives in Chesterport he takes control of the house, and also Flo. He is a drunk and very distasteful. He bosses Flo around and thinks he can do what he likes, when he likes. I'm not really going to say more to that apart from, he tries to ruin Flo's relationship with Frank.
Franks Family is very supportive and caring just like they were in the last book, you also get to know about there lives and stuff, and its just very interesting reading the book when you see how good of a family it is.
The other characters in the book play really good roles in the book as well but not enough for me to harp on about it. Without the other characters though.. it wouldn't be a story right?.
My overall opinion of this book is it was so amazing, and I really enjoyed and I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!! till the next one of this series :) .

Get A Taste: Bait
Rea of Rea's Reading and Reviews and I often read very different books but sometimes find interesting new books to potentially add to the ever-growing monsters that our TBR piles have morphed into. However, we know that we do not have 100% the same taste and we wanted another way of getting a look at these books...
Do you ever feel like getting a bit of a taster for a book you’ve been thinking of reading but aren’t fully sold on yet? Do you feel like sharing a taster for your current read with the world? Well, here’s your chance.
Each week the random number generator will pick a number between 1 and 100 for books with pages or 1 and 25% for ebooks. We figured that these numbers would keep us out of spoiler territory. Open your book to the specified place and pick a paragraph. Share it with the world!
This week its:
Page number: 87
Kindle/ebook: 23%
My Teaser:
'Colby sat back in his chair, fingers steepled under his chin. “Did he like you?”
“What?” The question threw me. “I mean, he accepted me, and made me dance with him.” Heat crept up my cheeks. Red would use this to tease me. I could hear the wheels turning in his head from here.'
I really liked this book a lot :) I really recommend this book to people :D
Do you want to join in too? Here’s how:
Step 1: Copy and paste the Get A Taste image.
Step 2: Copy and paste our intro or write your own but it must link back to both of our blogs.
Step 3: Find the designated page for the week.
Step 4: Type out a paragraph or so from your book.
Step 5: Post it and share it!
We would appreciate it if you'd leave a comment letting us know where we can find your post. We'll be sure to pop on by and leave a comment!
Thanks and have fun!

Review of Nevermore (Maximum Ride #8) by James Patterson
Description
One last chance... For Max, Fang, Angel, Iggy, Nudge, and Gazzy.
Before it all ends.
Are you ready for the final chapter? Are you ready for the ultimate flight? Because THIS IS IT. One last incredible, explosive adventure with an astonishing ending that no one could have seen coming.
My Thoughts
THE LAST ONE!!! NOOOOO!!! All of the books series I have been reading recently are coming to and end now or soon. When I found out this was released I NEEDED to read it so much. The description inst very descriptive but it still makes me wanna know what happens. The cover of the book is of Max and I love it so much. Then the title.. NEVERMORE.. wha.. what..what's going to happen!?.
This book was amazing.. I have to say I love James Patterson's work on all 8 books, he has made it one of the best. I loved the storyline and I loved how it had a proper ending instead of 1 which makes you go .. oh.. its ended. The style of writing is easy to read and understand. The storyline is basically putting all of the pieces we have learned throughout the whole of the 7 books before this, and also finding out new things. Throughout this book you get gripped by certain things. Fag and Max isn't together at first as Fang is still with the gang he formed in the previous books before. The POV is mostly focused on Max but it does shift between other characters and certainly on Fang when they were split.
There is many characters in this book, but I feel the main characters are Max, Fang, Angel and Dylan. There is some evil characters I could talk about, but I feel all I would say is, I hate them because they are mean.
Max is the main character we knew from the fact this whole series is her name. She is brave, confident and a strong leader. She is what makes this book. I love her so very much and she is such a role model for teens who would like to be brave or something.
Fang is the in my mind a really "hot" and cool character he is also brave and when he needs to be he's also a strong leader, I have always loved the way he backs up Max most of the time and is very good at fighting :D.
Angel is sweet, young but isn't she soo strong :) I loved her throughout the book and by the end of it.. I just wanted to take her home.
Nudge, Iggy and Gazzy also are great characters and they help out, fang and Max a lot throughout the whole book, without them.. well without them it wouldn't be Maximum Ride in my opinion :).
Dylan, starts to.. kinda replaces Fang in the gang for a bit.. at the start but it soon changes and he is very easily mislead if it means protecting Max, as you will find out when u read this amazing book. I do like him and I kinda feel sorry for him by the end.
All of the characters which are in this book are absolutely fantastic and they made this book amazing :D.
My overall opinion of this book is, it was...AMAZING... BRILLIANT...TEARFUL... FANTASTIC :)
I recommend people who have read the first 7 books, and who love YA and something different than the normal vampire, faerie stories.

Get A Taste: Forbidden Mind
Page number: 77
Kindle/ebook: 14%
My Teaser:
'"Who did this? Did you see?"
Her eyes widened. "I sorry. I couldn't stop him. I scared of big man in black."
"It's okay. You did the right thing. It's not worth getting hurt over. Thank you for telling me."
The damage looked like some kids pulling a prank, but a big man in black sounded more like a hit posed to look like a prank. Why? To scare him?'
I loved this book so much :D The two main characters are amazing and I REALLY can't wait to get my hands on the second book in the series :)

My Teaser:
'She tried to muster her own face of suspicion, but it was impossible with the uncontrollable chatter of her teeth. Useless — just get on with getting some help, she thought.
“Sorry to interrupt whatever this is,” she gave a flip of her hand. “I’m stuck and can’t seem to get unzipped.” She turned around to show the wetsuit pull leash.
Aiden was closest to her, and took a step towards her.'
This was an okay book, but felt it lacked something, but hey ho, it may of just been me :)

The Cover Wars: Cross My Heart
Rea of Rea's Reading and Reviews and I decided to get together to do a weekly meme where we would compare covers of the UK editions of books with those of the US editions.
The aim of this is to just have a bit of fun. We put ourselves in the position where we see both of these books side by side in the bookstore. Which would we choose? Why that one and not the other?
This week, we will be comparing the UK and US covers of Cross My Heart by Sasha Gould
Rea says: Actually this one is an easy choice for me as well. Though the UK cover is pretty in its own right, it just doesn’t attract me like the US one does. There must be something about black covers with a masked individual as the only real imagery. I have a few like that and I love them all. This is another one that would immediately draw me to it in a shop. US for me.
Tara says: Both covers are completely different apart from one thing, the MASK on the girl’s face. I like the colourful idea with the UK one, but then I like the dark looking idea with the US one. Just because to me it would stand out more on a shelf I will go with the UK one.
Score:
Week 34: US: 6 UK: 19 Draw: 9
Step 1: Copy and paste the Cover Wars image.

Step 4: Compare the two.
