Q: Do you mind books with similar ideas to other books? Similar concepts, backgrounds, retellings or pulled-to-publish fanfic?

A: It depends, if someone  "steals" the idea of someone without maybe saying they have.. or something as I feel it is wrong and I don't like it.
If it has similar concepts than I don't mind as long as I don't read them 1 after each other.
Retellings of fairytales are such a good idea, because they are changing something to become what they want, so they will be using there own imagination by doing that.

So what about all of you?

  2. I am not a fan-fic fan at all. I don't read any of that stuff. But I don't mind a new spin on other stories if the author twists it around a little. Some stories are so universal that it’s almost a given that they will be retold, like The Iliad and the Odyssey. The story is an archetype of the hero’s journey.

  3. Good answer. The retelling of fairytales can be quite interesting if done well.

  11. I love fairytale re-tellings. But when it comes with not-fairytale book and they sound like I've read before...I don't like it. Never.
